Hoffskeller in Norse means Farm Cellar and thats exactly where your at. Interesting place... coffee store with perculator of fresh brewed coffee. Help yourself to a free cup. We left a donation and headed outside to sit and chat. Cute farmhouse decor and outside seating. Max shared that they started by selling their coffee at farmers markets and also online. Then opened this space in early 2025 so people could get their coffee year-round. I purchased a jar and brewed it up at home. Delish!

I absolutely love this coffee. This is probably the best I've ever had. It is great in my little mokapot and I'll be ordering again. It is smooth and comforting.

I stopped by this wonderful coffee shop earlier today because I happened to be in the area. Had two cups of amazing coffee and a wonderful conversation with Max. If time permitted, I would have stayed longer to spend some time reading. Absolutely loved the rustic decor, and the focus on good coffee. I can imagine how fun it will be to sit outside on a nice summer day. I can’t wait to try the ground coffee I picked up from here.

I have been buying their whole bean coffee and absolutely love it. I've always had coffee with cream. Just tried a sample of their coffee, black, at a craft fair. Wow, it was quite good and I've never liked black coffee!

Delicious coffee in a cozy farm vibe. This is a place where they roast and sell their own coffee beans, and the main purpose is selling the beans. They offer jars for sale and they also ship them. I met a friend here for coffee and we were greeted by one of the owners and offered a wonderful cup of coffee. For free! It was kind of a shock to be honest. But we gladly took them up on the offer. It was delicious coffee and we were able to sit in some comfortable chairs before a fireplace and catch up, and the coffee was so delicious. We did buy some to take home. I would definitely recommend that people stop by here and I can’t wait to see how nice it will be in the summer when there are some tables outside as well as inside. It should be noted that this is not a place that offers food. It is just the coffee. So if you need a snack, I think you should bring something.

Warm weather got us out of Burlington for a little shopping and sightseeing after Valentine's Day. Stopped in the rustic barn at Der Hoffskeller to try some coffee. Bought some beans to take home. I drink my coffee black. My personal favorite bean is Ethiopian for its almost sweet, smooth flavor. I like light roasts for their lack of bitterness compared to dark roasts. What did I think? First, it's a cute space here, and it will be exciting to visit here in the country as things develop. I enjoyed the coffee there. Ground some at home and ran it through my Coulee coffee maker. I prefer my coffee tasting bold, and this followed very well in my wheel house. It is not bitter. It has a really nice after taste that I enjoy, but it is a little different. It's not "smokey" or "woody" tasting, it's not chocolate like. Just good, hardy coffee flavor!

Love this place. Not sure where else you can get a free cup of coffee 7 days a week! The coffee is so smooth and delicious.

We happened to come across their website and decided to swing by. SO glad we did. The barn is beautiful, the atmosphere is so cozy, and the coffee is PHENOMENAL. Der Hoffskeller is run by two brothers who happened to be at farmer’s market (Menomonee Falls and Whitefish Bay) when we visited so their dad was running the shop and he is also delightful! There’s games, books, a fireplace, and a TV…come have a FREE cup of coffee, relax, and buy a jar of coffee beans (or grounds).

A great place for an excellent cup of coffee and good conversation. There are not many places where you can drink a black cup of coffee and have it taste great.

Ordered a quart of ground coffee. Wow what a amazing roast. GREAT flavor. Not acidity or bitter. Every description is spot on. I will be ordering again once I finish my first quart.

New to this taste, darker roast than my usual beans. I usually enjoy a heaping teaspoon per cup. My first attempt at that process with these beautiful beans seemed like it was too much. I could be wrong. What is the preferred amount per cup according to fans of this roasting process?

Don’t even think twice…make the trip and stop in here! Coffee is Free, just buy some beans to take home. Converted old barn into the most adorable, quaint coffee shop in the middle of farmland. The owner was the most genuine and fun part of the stop, full of cool stories about the transition of the former barn to the fabulous little coffee shop it is now.

Just got my first bag last week. We usually drink Jamaican Blue Mountain and just bought it to try. We love it. It is a really smooth coffee to give us some variety. Where our usual has more fruity notes, this has more of a nutty base. We will be ordering more. Excellent coffee.

What a neat place! Very friendly, welcoming, and comfortable! The repurposed barn basement makes you feel like you're visiting an old friend. And the complimentary coffee tasting really promotes their product... delicious with no bitter aftertaste. We'll definitely be coming back.

Free bottomless cups of self-serve, deliciously smooth coffee in a cozy converted barn. Linger to chat with friendly owners Jack and Max who will also leave you alone grab a free book & curl up on their comfortable sofas. Linger as long as you like, but don't forget to carry home ground or whole bean freshly roasted coffee & bring back your mason jar. Not even recyclables pollute this peaceful country refuge. What a find!

Such a creative & relaxed atmosphere in an old barn that was renovated inside to be a little coffee shop. They only serve black coffee with sugar and creamer but the coffee was AMAZING and I left with a pint of it. Only thing was that they were roasting beans inside the sitting area so it was smokey which would be bad for sensitive people. Overall, very good coffee and family owned.

I’m awake from the baseball game so it’s a good time to squeak in some posts I’m behind on. So yesterday, I used the last of my Der Hoffskeller Coffee, roasted locally in Cedarburg. Sigh It’s time to take the jars back to turn them in and get more… Anyway, I had some Folgers in the cupboard so I made a cup of that. I really didn’t think I would taste the difference BUT, two sips and I’m scrunching up my nose. There is such a big difference and I can’t exactly put my finger on it…. But the locally roasted is better by a long shot! I honestly didn’t think the difference would be THAT noticeable. I guess I need to hurry up and get those jars refilled!!!

I drink a lot of coffee; having worked 3rd shift it has become necessary. I enjoy this brewed coffee because it is not acidic and tastes fantastic without adding anything to it. "I drink it straight up a cup at a time."

And what these folks did with their Sherman Road site transformation, you just gotta see it to add even another layer of delight to this perfectly roasted coffee!

Der Hoffskeller coffee is smooth and fresh. There is none of that acidic, bitter aftertaste. The coffee is packaged in canning jars, which I like.

Super tasty coffee that is made with a roaster based off a 17th century roasting style. I’ve lived in many coffee havens (Portugal, France, San Francisco, etc) and this is one of the most unique coffee rosters I have found. The coffee is a nice mix of smooth and bold. The guys who roast it are also really nice and which is always a bonus. I would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a cup of quality coffee

On Thursday I went to explore a new coffee roaster I had hear about. Coffee roasting the old world way in cast iron, in a barn. Yes in a barn. I was treated by Jack one of the brothers who own the roastery. We talked for quite a while. Over coffee. Yum! I enjoyed learning about the How, Why, What, When, Where, of their adventures of roasting their coffee. Spontaneous stop on the way home from Mequon…It’s a fabulous new coffee shop on Sherman Rd in Cedarburg, located in a 100+ year old barn! German Norwegian style blend of coffee that’s roasted in a Dutch oven and sold in mason jars whole bean or ground. If you love European style coffee it’s a must stop! Brothers Jack & Max were great hosts, full of knowledge & amazing plans for the future of the business.

Great coffee by great people! I ordered a jar of Der Hoffskeller coffee beans online. When I went to pick it up, I was greeted like I was family. I grind my own beans, and prepared myself an espresso out of my machine. The blend of dark and medium roast produced a delicious combination of smoky and sweet. I’ll be back for more!
