Coffee for Country Clubs and Golf Courses: Every Station, How Much, and How to Order

The best coffee for a country club is one house coffee poured at every station: the dining room, the grill, the locker-room urn, the turn and the banquet line. A busy 400-member club in July can pour about 1,120 cups a week, roughly 30 pounds (our estimate). Our 20 lb Bulk bag, $11.50 a pound on a subscription and shipped free, makes about 700 eight-ounce cups at standard strength.

We are Der Hoffskeller, a family roaster in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, roasting one coffee in cast iron in a barn that has been in the family since 1944. This guide is for club managers, food and beverage directors and chefs.

Every place a club pours coffee

StationWhen and how it pours
Dining room and grillBreakfast to after dinner: pots, airpots, a batch brewer
Clubhouse cafeMornings, drip or espresso
Locker rooms and fitness centerDawn to close, a self-serve urn or airpots
First tee, halfway house and beverage cartAirpots, a cart dispenser on cool mornings, maybe a pot by the starter
Pro shop, meetings and grounds crewA courtesy pot, board airpots, 5 a.m. break-room drip
Banquets, outings and weddingsEvent days, urns and thermal servers

Many outlets, usually one buyer: a club job posting for a food and beverage director lists ordering all food and beverage purchases. Most of the coffee is given away. One large club's executive chef estimated that about 90 percent of the coffee served on the property was free, the trade magazine Club + Resort Chef reported.

How much coffee a club goes through

Our estimates, in 8-ounce cups: about 35 per pound at standard strength (the Specialty Coffee Association's Golden Cup ratio) and about 46 at lighter urn strength. At events, 75% of guests drink 1.5 cups in the morning; in the evening, 50% drink one.

A public or semi-private 18 playing 30,000 rounds in a 210-day season (about 143 a day at 0.35 cups a round), plus a 15-person grounds crew (1.5 cups each, six days) and one 100-player morning outing, uses about 17 pounds a week. A nine-hole municipal course at 15,000 rounds over the same season, a quarter cup a round, pours about 3.6 pounds a week.

What members notice in the cup

  • Fresh, held right. Bunn's brewing guide gives an ideal holding time of 20 minutes in an open decanter and 60 in a closed container. Brew into labeled airpots, swap them hourly, pour into real mugs. Batch-brewer tips: what coffee restaurants use.
  • The same cup everywhere. That chef named consistency across the operation as his main challenge; one coffee in every outlet answers it.
  • Good black. Customers describe our medium-dark roast as smooth and low in acid; see coffee you can drink black.
  • A story members repeat. One coffee, 100% Colombian Supremo Arabica, roasted in cast iron in a family barn in Cedarburg.

How clubs buy coffee today

Clubs buy coffee through a broadline distributor on the weekly food order, a coffee-service company that loans the brewers, a group purchasing program or a local roaster. One coffee-service agreement we read ties "the coffee pricing and minimum monthly purchase" to the equipment and will "automatically renew" each year. Industry surveys find about three in four clubs subsidize food and beverage and fewer than one in three break even on it, so cost per cup matters as much as what members think.

The usual objection: the coffee company loans the brewers, and the club needs decaf. We sell coffee only, so nothing is tied to equipment. Keep the brewers you own or buy one once (if yours are on loan, read your agreement first). Keep your current decaf for those who ask; one university event office plans decaf for 20 to 25 percent of a morning crowd.

The banquet math

Resort and golf venue catering menus we checked in 2026 list a gallon of coffee at $49 to $70, before service charges. A gallon at Golden Cup strength takes about 208 grams of coffee, roughly 0.46 pound: about $5.28 from our Bulk bag on a subscription or $5.74 one-time (our estimate), for 16 eight-ounce cups. The coffee is a small part of that price, and it is the part every guest tastes. For urn measures, see how much coffee for 100 people.

Schedules for the weeks above:

  • Busy private club in July (about 30 lb): a Bulk bag plus a King Hoff on one weekly subscription, 27 lb for $325, with a one-time King Hoff ($105) in a heavy outing week.
  • Public or semi-private 18 (about 17 lb): a Bulk bag weekly, $230.
  • Nine holes (about 3.6 lb): a King Hoff every 2 weeks, $95.

Bags cost the same ground or whole bean; clubs that grind in house can order Bulk whole bean.

Any business can buy, serve and resell our coffee with no account, application or minimum. Check out as a guest; pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe. There is no company field, so type the club's name with your name or on the Apt, suite line. Online orders are limited to 60 items; for more, call 414-375-5804 or use the contact page.

Bulk is the discount: there is no club price. In one order, each extra unit of the same size, grind and purchase option is $10 off a Queen or King Hoff and $4 off a Big Hoff Bag; there is none on Bulk. We ship by USPS to US addresses only, and Queen, King and Bulk orders always ship free. Every size is on our page to order club coffee with no account.

Planning the Wisconsin season

Wisconsin golf runs roughly April through October; in 2026, courses opened anywhere from February 14 to May 29. Hot coffee matters most on cold spring and fall mornings. Winter shifts to dining, holiday parties and brunches.

Subscriptions come weekly, every 2 weeks or monthly, with a two-delivery minimum. You manage deliveries through a secure emailed link: skip, pause, move a date earlier or change sizes. A pause typically lasts one to four billing cycles, which may not cover a whole winter. So set a schedule for the season, drop to a smaller size when the course closes, and order one-time for outings and winter events. Near the barn? See coffee for Milwaukee and Ozaukee County businesses.

Yacht, city, athletic and curling clubs

The same model fits city and athletic clubs year-round, yacht clubs around regattas, and curling clubs through winter leagues and bonspiels. Here in Cedarburg, curling runs from early October through the end of March.

Gifts for members and outings

Coffee works as a member-guest tee gift, a holiday member gift or a pro shop item: a Little Hoff half pound is $15, and a half-gallon Mason jar of whole bean is $35. Clubs may resell it without asking us; everyone pays the same price, and the shop sets its own. For more than 60 gifts, call 414-375-5804 or use the contact page.

When we are not the right fit

We make one coffee and no decaf. We do not loan espresso machines, send service techs, train baristas or send invoices. We do not make a private-label club coffee; for custom event labels, ask us with plenty of lead time.

If it might fit, taste it first: a Little Hoff (1/2 lb, $15), The Hoff (1 lb, $25) or a free cup at our barn, 1040 Sherman Road in Cedarburg, open every day 9 to 5.

Club Coffee Questions

Do we need an account or a contract?

No account, application or equipment agreement. A one-time order is just one order; subscriptions have a two-delivery minimum.

How much coffee does a country club go through?

By our estimate, about 30 pounds (1,120 eight-ounce cups) in a July week at a 400-member club, and about 17 pounds a week at a public 18 playing 30,000 rounds a season.

Do you have decaf?

No. We make one coffee and no decaf. Keep a decaf on the side for members who ask.

Can we get invoices or net terms?

No. You pay at checkout by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe, and the confirmation email lists what you ordered and the total.

Will the ground coffee work in our urns, batch brewers and espresso machine?

Yes. Ground is one medium-fine grind that works for every brew method, espresso included. If you grind in house, order whole bean.

Can our chef or committee taste it first?

Yes: brew a Little Hoff ($15) or The Hoff ($25) in your own brewer, or have a free cup at our barn.

How fast does it ship?

Orders typically go out by USPS within a few business days (estimates, not guarantees), so order a week or two before a big event. Orders of $50 or more ship free.
